This was purchased by a friend, anyone know what it is??
Apparently it powered all four wheels by hydraulics??

No idea! It's a very specialised device though. Is that a liquids tank on the back? although the side looks like it might have hinges at the bottom.

It actually belongs to his boss, they buy ex military kit, then converts it to be used in the civil world and rents it to the police and private security companies etc

Its a Mk IV Blackboard made by Glover Webb and has a 3 cyl Kubota diesel engine driving 4 hydraulic wheel motors. Some have a winch behind the drivers seat to drag loads up skids onto the rear and cameras mounted front and rear. Witham SV had several in their last auction.

I would suspect he got it from Witham, as they are not too far from us.

I think they were (are) used by the bomb disposal teams where something like a LR is too large/heavy etc, different variants have different back bodys for different applications. Covered in one of the Military vehicle magazines last month.

Thats the thing with ex bomb disposal kit, its either mint or scrap metal.
