For those interested in machinery some pics of some big wood processing machinery as i have recently been working at the Drax power station in Yorkshire
First is a Precision Husky built in Alabama used for chipping wood and the second is a Morbark tub grinder
-
What does the morbark tub do?
Its a bit of a beasty!!
-
the morbark is a wood shredder/grinder it effectively turns wood chip into dust at the minute the way it is set up using about 650 horsepower from a CAT V12 Engine
-
If you drive on the A5 past Chirk you can see mountains of timber which has been turned into fibre ready for making into boards (MDF) and other items.
The place is run by Kronnospan and they eat timber at an unbelievable rate. The electricity they use could run a small City.
-
the recycling machines i used to work on at our customer sites used to supply kronospan with woodchip
Drax are injecting the wood dust into their furnace and burning with the coal
-
heres a loading shovel at the quarry i was working in.
