Title: P38 2.5 DSE Hard starting
Post by: BrumLee on May 18, 2007, 12:58:03
A friend at work has a 2.5 auto which now and again turns over but won't fire up. When it starts there's no smoke, so it appears no fuel has been injected.

Does his motor have a spider fitted like the Disco 300tdi or could it be something else?

What's the spider?

The injection system is all computer controlled; inputs from various sources including throttle position, engine speed etc and the computer adjusts the pump.

A freind has a similar problem, only thing I have found so far is the wire loom coming out of the ECU case (behind the battery) goes through a plastic clamp, the clamp had pinched the loom and 2 wires were near enough worn through.   Fixing that made it a little better, but it is still difficult to start and lacks power too for some reason, I am getting my hands on it next week so if I find anything I will post it here.
