I'm after a good rechargeable torch.
At the moment I have one of the big yellow torches that are about 1,000,000 candlepower but only last around 30minutes on a full charge.
I'm seriously considering a Mag-Lite, but the price is a bit high.
Arco Industrial Supplies in Ossett (other side of Wakefield) lists them at £139.95 + VAT
http://www.maglite.com/index_flash.asp
There are another couple of examples I'm considering such as the 'Nite-Tech X-Cell' at £75.00 (4hours) or £99.00 (8hours)
http://www.nitech.co.uk/ (Hand-Lamps)
We have a few of these in out 'MAJAX' store room, but not on rechargeables, which makes sense really, as the stock in there is only checked once a week, unless used (I think last time it was all used 'in anger' was at stand-by the Great Heck rail crash)
The thing about a Mag-Lite is the spares availability & sheer indestructability (within reason)
There's also these 2 providers

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good deal on Mag-Lites?

Have a look at www.niton999.co.uk - they supply police kit, and have an extensive collection of torches - all very hardwearing. Not to mention so rather cool stuff.
The catalogue is free and glossy.

I have a rechargable MagLite - an expensive (£100+)but fantastic piece of kit. the light beam is incredible - burned my hand with it!!
It came with both an in-car and household charger.
Expensive , but you have to pay for quality I spose

Just wish I'd bought a rechargeable Mag-Lite in Toronto when we were there (1998)
There was a Mag-Lite shop in the Eaton Centre.
It worked out to about £45.00 back then, allowing for the reclaimable sales tax.
Yes I know it would have been a 110v mains charger, but it would have been bound for the 110Tdi

I had a mail-shot from Rapid electronics IIRC, brit supplier and they had rechargeables in AA, C and D cell sizes, most expensive under 50 squid, I'll try to find it out....Or was it machine mart?????

I had a friend who had the mag charger, he used it every night when walking his dogs out in the sticks, he loved the torch, but said it didn't run for long enough on one charge and he said his battery only lasted for just over a year beforeit started to give up, the replacement was fairly hefty.
I would check out Pelican products and Streamlight before spending serious money. Also the lighting world is changing fast, I have an 8 led headlamp that is plenty good enough for camp/recovery work -£20 and runs on3 aaa batteries, which last 20+hrs, the new toy is a 1 watt led torch running of 2xCR123 camera batteries, will give a 2 or 3 d mag lit a bashing, much smaller, and I haven't flattened a set of batteries yet, despite using it all weekend at the 2/4 challenge.
Mag charger is good, but there is a lot of good stuff around for less money.
cheers
