Title: Clunking sound coming from the front left corner
Post by: Disco Bristol on March 30, 2006, 00:22:00
Hello there,

I have a Discovery 1997. There is a clunking sound coming from the front left corner when I go over any size of bumps. I am sure it is related to the suspension but, any ideas what exactly it might be, and if not, how I might diagnose it. Obviously it only clucks when I am driving, so I can’t exactly get put my head under there while driving.
 :D

Are you sure you cannot reproduce the sound while stationary
by shoveing down on the corner in question  :?:
i have had simular clunks in the past and theyve
almost always been down to either a lose nut on one end
or other of the shock or the shock mounting rubbers
had it :!:

Are there any handling issues with this noise like shakes
or vibration when the noise occurs then it would point
to worn bushes.

have a good long hard look at all the suspension
components on that side while youre down there
get a mate to shake the hell out of it
just watch out for trapped fingers :P
