Title: Court tells MODPOL to stop!
Post by: LandRoger on January 09, 2012, 14:19:24
A court has told the MOD Police to stop their heavy handed tactics of seizing vehicals and compounding them untill they get a destuction order from the courts, The regular practice of unlawful tresspass by Trail bikes and 4x4s had led the Modpol to adopt this tactic and it had curtailed the practise to a large degree , but after a biker appealed his case the court gave him full compensation for the loss of his bike does this mean that the MOD are powerless to put an end to these drivers illegal antics?
a little birdy tells me there are some (dark whispers ) echoing around Salisbury Plain of a total closure to all puplic vehicals except for certain established groups english nature and the likes, watch this space as they say  we could be loseing a lot of byways because of the selfish actions of a few -mostly bikes i must add,  :police:

They're putting a lot of effort in to marking the routes across Salisbury Plain to prevent people accidentally straying. If people intentionally trespass then they need to know it's going to cost them - all too often it's the untaxed, uninsured mob who spoil it for the rest of us.

And the last time I was out on the byways on the bike, I saw a Land Rover and utility quad thing going a long way of piste and in to fields etc.

There are good and bad in all groups.

perhaps they should "accidentaly" back a tank over them - whoops didnt see you there!

or place some stinger strips around as it would be difficult to carry on or get home with 4 flat tyres ?

The illegal bikers don't ride to the plains on roads (usually), they come with the bikes in vans/pick ups or on trailers and park up in places like the Bustard Inn carpark, Lavington gate house carppark, Stowhill , Pear tree Hill etc and set off into the Ranges from there. Creatures of habit too.

Let them drive into live fire areas ... it's called evolution.

Every now and then the gene pool needs a bit of chlorine.

Not sure howmany magistrates are in touch with the real world TBO, i do know that its gutting for those concerned who work their cobbs off to get a case together and those morons into court only for the out of touch bench to throw it out and then compensate the offender who walks out of court with a smirk and a two,s up , in this particular case one member of the bench had to ask what was the difference between a Trailbike and a normal Pedal cylcle ??? :rolleyes:nuff said.

Education is the name of the game! We're fairly lucky in Hants, some of the Bench are rural based and are very aware of the problems.

4x4 truck activity has dropped off hugely

i think this is a wide spread thing, i the Peak district where i spend many hours in more and more i can go out with groups and not see another 4x4 for several weeks, the tracks prove this but bikes...
im not going into my opinions on them
i know there are bikers on here, and i know alot of bikers who are all decent people,
Its simple we are out numbered by at least twice if not three times by them
just an observation

Why, I thank thee, your Bishopness! I drop in when time and the crims allow.

In relation to lane usage by 4x4's. My colleagues and I have been out patrolling the lanes more regularly and recently came across small groups of vehicles and bikes from various clubs.
We had chats with them, and the feeling is mutual, that all responsible users are fed up with the actions of the 'idiot brigade'.
I can't stress it enough that if you see or hear of illegal activity, report it to your local Police. Most non urban forces have rural/wildlife/environmental crime officers, who will do their best to catch and prosecute these ne'er do wells.
Not wishing to blow my own trumpet, but we've recently seized vehicles and bikes that have been involved in illegal activities, for various offences such as non compliance with 'construction and use' regulations, no insurance, and illegal use of red diesel.
It is a 'battle of attrition', that can only be won with help from the law abiding community, telling us where and when it happens, and in some cases, who is doing it.
Another method is to apply to join your local force as a Special Constable. My force is looking at taking on people who have 'specialist' knowledge or skills, to work on our team, to help patrol, catch and deter the wrong doers.
You folks have that knowledge, and we want to use it.
We even have some real 'Gucci' kit, like marked up Defenders and Navaras!
Have a look at your local Force website, go to the Recruiting section, and there should be a link to the Special Constabulary.
If that doesn't work, drop me a PM, and I'll find the contact for you.
