Title: Brake drum removal
Post by: harryhedgehog on January 20, 2008, 21:28:09
Hi Can anyone help.

Does anyone know what thread the tapped hole is on the brake drum that is used to push the drum away from the shoes / back plate?

Unfortunately the bolt I had went with my 1st SWB.

3/8 UNC for S2A/3 or 3/8 BSF for S2

Its the same thread as the screws that hold the drum on, you know, the 3 that are probubly all missing!  I find screwing one of them into the hole and out again with a decent screwdriver (gotta get a good grip on them) followed by a couple of taps with a rubber hammer is usally enough to loosen the drum off.  That said my drums are removed fairly often so aren't as stubbern as some.
