Mally sounds good to me, (mallyshag is an old Isle of Wight name for a caterpiller, just a bit of inconsequential trivia)

HEMI - strong and powerful, eats a lot of fuel,  and sounds similar so as not to confuse him  :)

How about something appropriatly Scottish...

"Swaally"

As in "Ye goaun oot fur a wee swally?"

Course, he'll grow into a "big swaally" so best make sure you work hard to make sure you don't end up with "a heid like a tumshie"!

  Translation service available!

As a suggestion, with the current anti-dog climate on the grow, I wouldn't go with names that sound 'aggressive'.

So things like, Grip, Bruiser, Growler, Tyson, Rocky (which is a good name for Rotty!) are probably best avoided.

Have a trawl through the web for babies names (male!) and see what sounds exotic, but can be shortened to something easy - find something that means 'protector' or 'servant', 'friend' or 'loyalty'. There's plenty about.

I've got a list somewhere kept for just such occasions (seriously!) - I might be able to dig it out later!

Cheers

I didn't think there was an anti-dog climate.  Just an anti-dangerous-dog climate.

How about Steve?

I had a friend (who was a bit odd, it has to be said) that called his dog 'Boobs Wobble'.
His thinking behind this was:

1) no other dog would get confused if he called out the name.
2) he would have great fun calling out the dogs name in the local park.

Twisted logic, I'm sure you'll agree.

No thats mine  :?
You cant call it Eric,    Our unborn son will be Erik
Its a dog....... call it a dogs name......

My brothers dog is called Tara. We were taking them (mine too)  a walk through the park when Tara decided to take a detour and roll in sh*t.
My brother , not impressed shouted at the dog, ' Tara you stupid bitch, get over here', (bear in mind he is 6' 6", heavy build and pretty well peed off)  A young girl, rather distressed, came up to us and asked him 'what have I done?'
Surprised I said 'what??? he was shouting at the dog :? '
One of her friends shouted 'Tara, we best get home, its gone 7 0'clock
YES the girl was called Tara and we didn't half give my brother some stick for frightening little girls

Just as a note, the dog was a rescue dog that was already named Tara

Jess says call it Chaser (drinks)
