are they supposed to be ignition switched or permanently fed?
wired up a 4 way fag lighter thingy courtesy of the local pound shop and its a royal pain keep pulling the wires everytime i stop
-
can be wired either way - depends if you want to be able to power stuff without the engine running. You could always have two - one ignition live, one permanent live
-
MOst of them are wired in a feed from the aux switch on the ignition, so you can run things through without the engine running, but kill everything when you take the keys. If not put a switch inline and have it wired live through that, so you can isolate it if you want

H'mmm how much was it?
...........I'll get me coat

The sockets should be feed permanent live from a splice in the wiring harness just behind the dash panel next to the heater duct. It is normally a brown coloured wire.
