Been having a bit of juddering from my niva's clutch lately.It only happens when i set off in first gear or reverse it doesnt always happen though..
Any ideas :D

Gav, You sure it's the clutch? Judder when pulling away hard is not uncommon - it comes from the transfer box / intermediate shaft alignment. Check that first, and don't believe anyone who tells you that the CV joint doesn't need to be aligned! If it's out, move the t/box to suit, just as you would for a UJ type.

So it wasn't the bearing? A diff is no problem, half an hour with the replacement I'm sure you've got to hand!

Had to order a diff from Alan 3.1 ratio ive only got 4.1's here
Still £60 well worth it :D

Should've put the 4.1s in - better than the 3.9s considering your use of the vehicle. Personally, I prefer the 4.3 - Lada never should have changed from that!

3.9 diff is now in mobile again now..
2 hours total stripping and putting the new one in,My old man did all the work :lol: :lol:

I had a judder in first and reverse it was the alignment between the gearbox and the transfer box ...
there are shims you can buy but washers do the same job , just put more or less spacers between the body and the ( god I can't remember the name of it) two bolts in the midde of the boxes until the judder goes away:lol: :lol:
I sold mine with a big judder (after putting in aa new gearbox and not sorting the alignment).. I had bought the disco and couldn't be bothered sorting it out .so stated what the judder was and how it could be fixed and it sold for £650 on eblag :cool:

Mine has just started juddering too!!
Have done some heavy offroading earlier in the summer so could have knocked the alignment!!
May get underneath and try the alignment thing sometime, once i have fitted the new timing chain!! :evil:

The need for alignment applies regardless of whether you've got a UJ or CV intermediate shaft. The CV can handle misalignment better than the UJ, but getting everything correctly lined up is essential for a long life (must pay a visit to the quack soon!).
