I don't think mine looks too shabby - I'm planning to add a winch bumper (no A bar/bull bar) sans winch, mainly to get some front recovery points and hilift jacking points:

No it isn't leaning. The drive slopes!

Den I think your right about the 200 those lights they look far better, in fact my Dad wants a set for his 200, but the 300 IMHO looks better with clear indicators and either standard headlamps or early TD5 lheadlamps just looks cleaner I think.

if i wanted 3ootdi lights i would have bought a 300tdi disco, same if i wanted td5 lights. why buy a car that you originally like only to then spend thousands on cosmetic work that would have been unneccessary if u had bought the car with a look u liked to start off with........
i'm all for adding to the original, but don't knock something just because u don't like the look of it!!!!
and as for not seeing at night, were u aware u were supposed to turn the lights on in order to see where u going????  try it sometime!!!!
rant over........i think......

I'm with you on this one mate, you buy the vehicle you want. If you know about land rovers you generally know what model and spec you want.

I liked the 200 tdi engine and dash layout, I know everything else will be replced at some stage, seats bumpers etc, and the lights actually suit the vehicle. They are good enough for the road, and if your off piste so to speak you always have the auxillary lights we all fit.

It's about preferance not style or looking update. I used to have a volvo 240 rally/drift car. It looked old but by jebus that thing went, and the paint kob was 'a bit' loud  8)

My thoughts exactly - this is one reason why I'm not fitting clear indicator lenses to mine (the others being that while you can get front and side ones I've yet to see replacements for the rear ones, and besides which that sort of money could better be spent on a detachable towbar!).

I have seen some replacement light units and grilles for the Disco 1 that looked not unlike those on the new-shape Range Rover. They don't really suit the Disco to my mind as they're from a different era in styling terms, and the styling just didn't match - rather like putting Disco headlights on a Series 3.

Just my opinions - if you've done this and like the looks of it I'm not having a go. The beauty of these vehicles is that you can do so much to them with just a set of spanners and a handy parts supplier.

Grille was made by my own fair hand.  Just took a Dremmel to a standard Td5 grille and then pop riveted the stainless mesh in place.  Had to add the cut out for the free-spool lever afterwards

with lifts i rekon thats thats the right offset u want.

2inch lift 31s

3 inch lift 32s

4 inch 33s

6 inch 35s take a look at fingers mclean what a beast to look at.

i do like jake old motor with 32s on a 2inch lift the cut archs out makes a difference.

also if land rover had fitted 32s from the start the disco looks so more harder offroad same for the rangie with all the standard bumpers in place

here is mine. under the water is a trimmed 300tdi bumper. I like the look of the number plate holder as it breaks up the straight lines and the light guards fit nicely too I think, although they do vibrate and rattle when stood outside! there is also a steering guard with hi lift and recovery points on. Must take some shots of the beast sometime!

it doesnt look school mum run 4x4 but again it doesnt look aggressive off roader which is kind of the look I am after. One that makes people think what it is used for.

Not the best photo ever (should have taken it from a different angle) but I think she's looking pretty good. The sticker on the rear body is a Baja GB Marshal one. Planning to add tree sliders and some proper front recovery points (winch bumper seems the easiest route as I already have a Bearmach aluminium steering guard):

FOR THE SAKE OF FORTY QUID  :x  :x  :x  you really do not have the first clue about kit or modding a landy those pro comp lights cost me a shed load, first of i dont buy just any old crap and throw it at my truck like you seem too i buy the best i can so it last up to what i throw at it. So dont even comment on something you seem to know very little about     i will never get the truck i have now to be at the same spec as my old one!!! as there more other mods on that truck that dont show in a picture. mr pux , like older one  8)
where did you get the tube bumper from as cant find them like that , that go round the sids :(
cos it looks mint 8)  8)
Ah mr howie, i bought it from mail order 4x4 in exeter 8)  8)  but i belive that it is made by firstfouroffroad i went for the close fitting one too     lovely well made strong bumper........................right im off for a cry now as i miss the old girl

for the sake of 40 quid change the lights on the roof bar and sell the bumper u have now and get the old style instead.

i rekon i had 6 differents sets of lights, 4 nudge bars and 4 different back boxs.

if u dont like the look of ur truck change it. :D
So unless you have some money to give me then go back to the hole you came out off as you are really boring me and the other members on this great site.

I think the general feeling from a few people (stop me if I'm wrong, I don't mean to offend) is that we have multiple aestetic questions one after the other, it is a valid discussion but it was a little OTT, to the point of people making snipes, ie roof views next or underbody shot next.

Just my 2 cents

I'm not in my forties yet, and I don't understand, so I asked my 18 year old nephew what it meant? he didn't have a clue either!!!  :(stoopid):

what everyone is saying is the writing is supposed to be upside down when you read it so if your truck is upside down they should turn it over... why would you want someone to put you on your roof????

Don't tempt me

In this case he is right I suppose  The sticker is not the funny one that is readily available, but another thing that makes no sense!

It looks to me like the "ME" bit has been taken from it?

It still makes no sense in my mind though? "If you can read this, turn over" turn over what???

What Potash is saying is, You said it says " If u can read" whereas what it says is "If YOU can read"

Can you spot the difference there?

I've not seen this sticker the right way up before. Makes little sense that is true, but it's also quite funny if you think about it!
