yes i would change the fork just to eliminate it if it is a bit week, you dont want to strip it all down again in a short time.

The simple answer is........, I'm sure the West Mids team will offer every assistance in doing the works...., as long as its not outside your place  )
With the correct kit, it will take a day......, without it 2-days. You can either take out the box or take out the engine and box. Some say its easier taking out the whole lot.

Change the fork defo...
The fork is the thing that died on mine and the clutch centred said that is the usual problem and not the clutch itself. Besides £20ish for an arm against doing or paying to have the box out again!!
-
For what it costs change the fork aswell (£12), bit of advice I got was to weld some 4mm thick plate behind the fulcrum on the fork and it will last a lot longer!
-
But you can't just drop the rear propshaft and ease the box back enough to do teh clutch? I seem to recall that this was the way people used to do Range Rover clutches?
Mike
-
I'll help if you need me, but after your last escapade as Chris says I don't think it’s a good idea outside your house :(scared): I’ve done several Landrover clutch changes in my time, although never on a disco.

Ready when every body else is, if we block the road off with landrover's we will have no bother at all  ,
weekend would be great, anything else i need :?: clutch lioning tool :?: ,
Chris, if your doing a service dont buy oil I have a couple of gallon here,
Let me know guy's & I'll get every thing ready,
Thank's John.
-
I heard it easier to take the engine out - I reckon its a days work to do.
the top bellhousing bolts are a pig on 200tdi.
-
Which clutch are you going for? Either Borg & Beck or Valeo are best, make sure it's the 3 piece kit (pressure plate, cover and release bearing) plus a fork.
Most of the suppliers do a kit for about 80quid I think.
Aligning tool yes
-
just take the gearbox out it is a lot easier, been doing one tonight with Diebok, gearbox out, new clutch fitted and gearbox back in. Started at approx 18.20 and packed kit away(too dark) at approx 21.00.Just gotta refit props and rebuild the inside :)
If the disco has a lift on it, you can do it without even jacking it up as you only need to slide the gearbox back enough to get at the clutch/release bearing.
just my view of course
Neil....
-
Will do, when is good for every one :?: , will get it up on highlift stands friday night & start to undo what i can,
Thanks again John.
-
Either Saturday or Sunday is good for me :?
Weather permitting is the big factor I guess

-
the sheet is big and very water proof ...5.95 hours to do your clutch according to autodata,i reckon we can halve that :^o
-
tell me when and i'll be there.
Chris
ps: we could do it at ours with no [PooPoo] as our friend over the road is about to get a 10-year ASBO and were going to have another loud party                           and no one can get nicked for parking legally

I can help so just let me know when. I have an undercover area at work big enough for about 4 vehicles if you want. We would need to be out of the way before Monday morning but could start after 6.00pm on Friday. Area in question has 3 walls and building above it but the back wall is open.

What’s all this about tea :(bigshock): good old strong scrumpy should be the order of the day :(bloodshot): Pete has asked me to tell you that he will be watching things very closely and woe betide any of you who fall foul of him :(biglaugh): Pete would type this himself but he is far to busy and important for such things. Personally I wonder if typing is a problem for him because of the size of his hands. :(biggrin):
