Title: hT LEADS COMING OFF!
Post by: steveieb on March 31, 2007, 21:18:06
Hi guys not being an expert "techie" any ideas why the HT leads (they are the ones attached to the spark plugs arnt they?) keep coming adrift on the v8!
Normally its whe its got warm! have replaced them twice: do we need heavy duty ones or some special ones? keep burning the asbestos fingers popping them back on!
thanks in advance:
Steve

Sounds odd... are you sure they are for a Rover V8....?

Only reasons I can think of are:
1. They're too short
2. The clip that goes on the spark plug is too loose
3. The spark plug end is not being fully seated

I went silly with mine and bought some magnacor leads... very expensive but perfect fit with good fittings on both ends and not needed to waterproof the beastie to cope with some fairly serious H2O.

Is it the plug end or the cap end?

Either way it's possible you aren't getting them clipped on properly or the clips have let go.
