Post by: Disco Inferno on April 14, 2004, 16:42:26
The hand brake light on my 93 200 tdi disco the dash has intermitently been coming on  and going off whilst driving, any ideas???, is this likely to be a switch that is boogered?

If you read the handbook, you will see it is also the brake warning light. Either your brake fluid is low, or more likely, your pads are wearing out.....

I had the same thing on my last Disco,
Turned out to be low fluid level

Defo have brake fluid, and the pads warnign would follow if my car had the  warnign sensor thingies. no wires there anyway, and my pads havn't got em.

are the shoes in the drum likely to have sensors??

The transmision brake has no sensors fitted,
Might just be a case of adjusting the handbrake
switch if you are sure the pads and fluid are ok.

If your brake pads are ok on the discs, ignore the handbrake, then your sensor is probably acting up in the fluid. Mine used to flash like that and it was low pads.
