hi ya first question for ya all, i own a 1985 toyota hilux 2.4d 4x4 don't know how many of you have hilux's but i was talking to a guy the other week who said he had swapped his lux's axels and diffs out for land cruiser ones with Lsd, anyone know which land cruiser it might be and if anyones undertaken such a project?????

A UK 4Runner rear axle might fit easily as it's Hilux based (but with coil springs). UK 4Runners came with LSD as standard- unfortunately the Hilux Surf imports didn't. VERY rarely you can find a Surf with factory fitted TOYOTA locking diffs. I've only ever seen one example!

cheers might consider it if the vehcial was a bit newer swapping to coil springs and four runner axels

..nah, stick to the neanderthal suspension, you can beat that firm lumpy chuck around feel you get from it!
let me know how you get on as my old hilux might be returning to my ownership next year! :D

i got the old lumpy bumpy suspension and axles on my suzuki vitara now.

Hiya,took the lsd out of my 70 series landcruiser because i was told they not the most reliable and fitted arb lockers to both diffs, wow what a difference that made, but the point is it might be of some use to you,it was working fine when i took it out,give us a email if its of any use to you
