Title: *D1 WARRANTY WARNING*
Post by: Thrasher on May 20, 2005, 17:01:27
LAND ROVER are *NOT* paying for the removal of any armour on the vehicle which impedes the changing of the fuel tank. You have been warned.

Bit of a pig for me - need to remove tank guard, rear bumper (to take off tank guard...) and rear exhaust system :(

Hi Thrasher

It looks like I have missed the thread about the fuel tank but I noticed the bit about D1. I might be starting up old news but what year does this cover and do you just phone a dealer and book it in?

All the best Arightpest

I wonder what a court would make of such a possible life threatening recall not being done because the company wouldn't go the extra mile? The tank is their problem.
I reckon they'd give in if you made enough solicitor type noises. After all they weren't going to recognise or honour other things like the dash problems yet they caved in in the end.

If I was their solicitor I would argue that you had modified the vehicle using non-genuine accessories and as such weren't liable for any cost.

I have to be honest, you can see their point of view.  On Piglet for example, bits of the roll cage need to be removed to do the job, hardly seems reasonable.

I understand the point Tim but it can't be very good for the makers of the most modified vehicles in the world to be refusing to do warranty work unless they are paid to remove certain modifications.
Cost involved in putting right a possibly lethal problem shouldn't come into it.

Is there a vehicle range anywhere else in the world that can be modified as much as LRs.

I'm glad I've got a diseasel :)
