Title: Will me new wheels fit ?
Post by: Ady427 on May 22, 2006, 21:00:46
Sorry if you chaps have been over this one before,  but can anyone tell me if my new 265x70xR16 tyres ( on freestyles ) will fit straight onto the standard 1988 classic ?  I know the wheels will, not sure about tyre size though.

Also when is it going to stop raining ?

not only but also.... if it does stop raining and the wheels don't fit, how do I tell the misses that the suspension must have dropped and yes dear those wheels have always been on it ?  :x

Thanks
Ady

On a standard RRC 265/75r16 tyres ar too tall and wide, they may fit and be driveble on flat level surfaces, but you will get chronic rubbing if you drive over rough or bumpy terrain.

Hi Adi,
I run 255/70/16 with a 2" lift and have no probs.
I think you may be pushing it a bit with 265 /70 s though as 70% of 265 is obviously more than 255.    you dont say if you have a lift; anyhow if you fit them you may need to chop wheel arches; prolly not what you want your wife to see you doing.

Thanks for replys,  fitted the wheels a week ago now,  only probs I have is on full lock ( not enough wind out on the steering stop bolts ) .  As the car is new to me I am unsure of if a lift has been fitted, but the neither front or rear wheels catch the arches on the road,  played abit on a rutted field and heard nothing untoward ? Think I'll just leave them on and see how it goes,  it looks tons better without those 205 pram wheels
