Title: Rear Shock Stuck
Post by: Mark_Solesbury on July 20, 2008, 18:56:40
Hiya

Ive got an OME shock stuck on my 90.

the nut at the bottom has rusted on.

Copious amounts of WD40 has not helped.

The little 'flat' on the bottom to grip it with has now rounded after i got the arse with it and tried the mole grips.

Any good ideas on how i can get it off without getting the grinder out?

I was thinking along those lines... But didnt want to destroy the bush - Plus i was unsure of the combustibility of WD40.

More tomorrow  :x

Bushes should be cheap enough to fit a new set if the old ones get cooked.
WD40 does burn, though usually by the time you get some heat to it most of the WD40 will have dripped off.

I assume the OME damper is still in good working order, so you don't want to damage it just to remove it.

Nuts are cheap to replace so splitting the nut is another option. If your going to try this then the little pattent splitted will be better than a chisel and hammer which from experiance bent the threaded section of the damper before the nut split.
