Post by: JDB on January 03, 2007, 17:07:35
... as above can someone give me a hint on where I can pick up a permanent live feed in the rear (boot) of a Disco 1, want to run a cool box occaisionally or a light - nothing too heavy duty.
Many thanks in advance.

Run a live from the battery cable tie wire to chassis rails bring out into boot area put a fuse in wire at battery end get a 4 plug socket and mount on top of trim at the bottom of the rear side window Thats what I did works fine

gtomo2 - thanks - was trying to avoid working my way through too much trim and carpet - but yes possible - but the cig lighter in the front is ignition controlled.

Grumpy - yes - probably the most likely - I was just trying to avoid 8 metres of red wire.....but it is probably inevitable!

This might depend on the age of your Disco but there should be a purple/brown wire behind the access to the drivers side rear light. This is a feed for the trailer auxiliary socket and is a permanent live protected by a 20A fuse.
