Post by: Geoffypie on December 12, 2006, 15:00:33
My 95 discov8 es has a problem sometimes with the ABS
After starting and leaving my drive i have to use the brakes within 100metres sometimes the abs cuts in and it wont stop.
This happends very rearly,, the wheels are not locking as it can happen on a summers day.
Anybody had this happen and what was the problem.

Merry Christmas.

My 95 had a similar problem.  Turned out to be the ABS sensor.  My dealer tried cleaning it, but that didn't work, so they ended up having to replace it.

I also had similar problems, turned out that the wire to the ABS sensor was being compressed as some idiot had routed it through the suspension spring.

Have a look in the workshop bit on this site as theres a proceedure for pulling the fault codes from the abs ECU which will tell you exactly what sensor(s) are faulty.

A word of advice, I left mine, until when I went to brake and other than a bad vibration through the pedal very little happened braking wise and I had so run the motor up on a grass verge to stop her ! and I was standing on the brakes !
