Title: Attention Bershire!
Post by: 07DefenderSeb on March 06, 2007, 10:21:01
I know this post should really go in the 'Food' section, but I need to find an old hotel/inn in and around Newbury and thought i'd catch more attention in 'The Bar'.

I'm Best Man to an old mate of mine, and I am arranging his stag weekend for 21/22 April in that neck of the woods. What i'd like is somewhere rural. An old pub or inn or hotel, where we will be comfortable, fed well and have a lovely old bar attached (open fire, decent ale, relaxed atmosphere that kind of thing).

What i'm NOT after is a chain, kiddy ball pool, gastro pub. You get the idea.

There'll be 6 of us.

Any idea or first hand experience would be fantastic.

Many thanks,

Seb

Try the Bunk Inn in Curridge, not the cheapest but a nice out of the way pub, 2 minutes from Junction 13 of M4.

Cheers Steve

Have been here 3 times to eat and have to say it is very good, beer is better and the hospitality is great as well, and they have rooms so no need to stagger to another resting place, and fire places
