Title: Insurance renewal recommendations
Post by: zebidee on May 21, 2007, 19:57:20
'lo,

So the insurance renewal's come in from Adrian Flux ... I remember seeing a thread on here as to how bad they were for claims.

Anyone got any recommendations for who to go with or at least who'll give reasonable quotes for off-road use?

Cheers,

Z~

Now running a disco and a defender i went with Admiral on their multi-car policy.

Very reasonable considering the disco has no no claims bonus on it.

Having said that i'm a crusty old git and live in a rural area so that helps.

Does that cover off-road use?

I checked my previous Direct Line policy before an off-road day and changed to Adrian Flux cause it actually said "does not cover off-road driving".

NFU has off road cover as standard (as long as you mean green lanes etc - not comp. safaris !    )
Have 3 Landies insured with them and very happy with price/service

I've made 3 claims through NFU, and they're very quick at paying out in my experience, but not as good as getting the money back from the other insurance company (took 18 months on the 1st claim, and still waiting on the second one nearly 2 years after the event!).

The Octavia's with Flux, but they want silly amounts for the renewal, and have refused to protect my no claims as I now have 3 claims (1 not at fault, 1 pending and 1 at fault) in the last 5 years. So, it's off to the dealers tomorrow to sell it...

Cheers

Ben

On a quote I had the other day from Lancaster they specified "No greenlaneing"  Obveously I didn't like the sound of that and questioned isn't that just another public highway?  She seemed to surgest it was a total lack of cover on greenlanes rather than 3rd party only off road, if it was the latter I could understand being how much damage potenchal you could do to your own motor on a lane and then claim con comp insurance.  Something tells me though that someone looking at owning a 27 year old landy is unlikely to complain if the paint gets scratched or the pannels dented (more).

Obveously had some claims from people laneing and damageing new Jap 4x4's (actully I bet new landys are simular to repair now).
