Oh dear do you think the seller made a bit of a boo boo with this auction by not putting a reserve, what do you think the chances of me getting it for £21
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230028092949&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:UK:31

Superb! That is brilliant, You have no chance like but it is good anyway 8)
-
The auction is legally binding
-
But I would think it a bit hard on the seller if you insisted on completing the auction.
-
A deal is a deal and E-Blag like to brag it's a legally binding contract. I'd be interested to know how it goes down but if you push for it they should have to sell, otherwise they loose face.
BTW, did you see the E-Blag (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=29105)thread in jokes and funnies, I laughed.
-
Think this bit might be a problem for the £21.00 offered, it is still cheap at just under 18k though.
For the "Buy it Now" option email me at: barryj4349@yahoo.co.uk
PLEASE NOTE:I will not be able to respond to the questions that you send using the ASK SELLER A QUESTION button(it will take at least 48 hours) because my e-mail address is blocked.
For a fast answer please e-mail me at: barryj4349@yahoo.co.uk
The buy it now is £17800
-
Congratulations............
-
Ohh, Can we all buy shares in it???
Let us know how you get on. :)
-
Congratulations, now to see if the seller will keep to their side of the deal (fingers crossed for you)

I think you should give hime the BEST Feedback rating EVER!!!
IF he goes ahead with the Sale
-
Ok I'll give you £25 cash & let you make a quick profit   ,
John.
-
You could offer to help him out of an obvious predicament by offering to sell it back to him for say £20,000 ?
Well they say time is money, and he has used some of your time :)
PS leave GOOD feedback if he does sell at the auction price.

From the eBay User Agreement (http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/user-agreement.html) "Our User Agreement state that sellers must deliver the items that buyers purchase from them".
I once sold a push chair on there for £1. No reserve, and 1 person bid. 1 year old push chair with all the trimmings etc., and she paid £1. My fault.
Bit different to letting a 20K vehicle go for £21. Good luck. If you win you MUST contact the news papers.
For that price you would not mind bob tailing it and loading it with off-road gear.
-
I am now getting other e-bay members asking to buy it from me, please form an orderly queue
-

I was first  & you shoul really let it go to another mudclubber  , also mine's been stolen so there for you should feel sorry for me  ,
John
-
"Donate" it to Mud-Club. Take it to the maintenance weekend and let the angle grinders and welders turn it into a monster.
Then send the seller pics of the finished article. Lift, muds, bob tail, rag top, a "few" stickers.
-
I think Barmie should get first option owing to his recent misfortune
Trev
-
Jeeeeez  £21  .
Get yourself down to a solicitors immediately, "You've won an auction".
Then to the Press if things dont go to plan.
Ebay may be responsible in recovering the car from him via the courts (I don't know).
I feel sorry for the seller, he should of withdrawn before the auction end.
-
I think Barmie should get first option owing to his recent misfortune
Trev
THANK YOU    ,
John.

But if you get the disco back (have seen the comments about it having Joan Collins syndrome - older than it looks) then you should give this back :)
Trev
-
Hmmm i wonder why nobody else bidded on that car
-
Yeah.... wonder if it was pre approved bidders only  . In which case you aint won the auction unless you emailed him 1st.
-
good thinking trug....
-
I did e-mail him first.............. barmiebrumie your first in the queue dont worry :D
-
So come on.. whats happening , we wnat pictures of him crying as he hands over the keys!
-
Pay him by PayPal immediately!
This effectively should seal the deal and make a leagly binding contract that's very difficult to get out of.
-
The yellow brick road is looking good.
Is that vultures I see circling?
-
Already done............Still waiting for him to contact me
-
Already done............Still waiting for him to contact me
He's probably busy reading all the e-bay fine print ...
-
tell him you will let him off if he pays you 5k.
-
I have just received the email below from the seller..............Hmmm he wants £17,500 for a £35,000 car
I have let him know I won it at the value of £21
Hi there,
the Range Rover Sport is still available for the price of £17,800 GBP. It is in excellent overall condition, without any scratch, dent or scuff. I have just moved to Hungary because my wife is Hungarian and she got a very good job offer here. The Range is here with us as well, but I can arrange shipping. It is still UK registered.
I am selling it because I cannot manage with the right-hand drive here. The low price is because not even a dealer here will offer me a better price for it. I just want to buy myself a left-hand drive car.
I suggest that we close this deal using the security provided for such transactions by the escrow service called BedWas Hungary Global Logistics.
Please email me back soon and let me know if you are interested.
All the best
Barry
-
He's not a happy bunny....his reply
Phill, do you really think I would sell my Range for £21?
if you want it you know the price.
Let me know
Barry
How do you think I should handle his reply guys
-
Still at least you only burnt £21 instead of £18,000... i'd try and stop that twenty quid from going through!
Its a typical ebay scam
-
I know someone who used to work for Ebay, have not spoken to them for a while, I will see if I can track them down.
-
Thanks zulublue
-
Yes you did win it for £21 as he did not put a reserve on it. You have won the auction, but I know form past dealings with ebay, they have no powers to make him sell it to you for £21. The worse ebay can do is stop him selling on ebay again.
Paul
-
I would have never tried to pursue it, but his e-mail reply was not exactly friendly.................and it does sound very odd........now living in Hungry...wants paying by some payment service I have never heard of....and wants £17,500 for a £30,000 Range Rover Sports
-
you can use an ebay escrow service. But tell him you want him to pay the fees. I would seek legal advice. You might get him to sell it for £21. If it was a car auction then he would have to. But as I have said ebay have no powers at all.
Paul
-
I'd risk losing £21 and go see a solicitor, perhaps you could sue him for the value of the vehicle.
At the end of the day.... you made the highest bid.... makes no difference if it was £21 or £21,000.
Its your vehicle once he recieves the £21...... phone the police and report it stolen.
-
Situations reversed i doubt you would honour the deal (i wouldn't), i would get your £21 back and leave it at that  . I definately wouldn't spend more money on solicitors.
-
This is a scam - I was watching this auction and you're doing exactly what he wants - he wants someone to come in with a higher offer which will not be covered by ebay/paypal - stay well clear.
-
the school bus is actually advertised as being in the uk as well so he hasnt listed the fact its been shipped over there and you have to pay for it to be shipped back.
sounds rather fishy to me, why wouldnt you just get rid of it at a uk dealer that would offer a good price instead of selling it on ebay for 17,800
doubt you'll see that £21 again but worth it i'd say lol
-
Report him to ebay and laugh at the fun you have had before he attempts to con someone else.

It's the usual scam. Report him and he'll get his account pulled.
The number of people getting pulled in by this stuff is amazing though... sending thousands of pounds for a car they never see (since it never existed) to a random nobody in another country through an untraceable system.
Hell, if it didn't make me so damn mad, I'd be impressed by how easy it is to make a fast buck off suckers.
-
Well I reckon you have a binding contract there, so you could take him through the courts if he breaks it.
But it's academic as it's obviously a scam anyway. The car doesn't even exist.

Must belong to someone, put the number in here (LS05EKA)and it shows up as a registered vehicle.

So I won't be getting it then  , swmbo will have to keep using the Yaris loan car  ,
John.

It is rare that something goes wrong with a transaction on eBay,
Since when???
Also I suspect the Rangie never existed, probably a copied picture from another site, or one he'd taken down the local garage.
-
Sounds like some poor soul got caught by a fake email from Ebay, it happened to a relative of mine, she ended up over $1,000 down:(

Seems like a standard e-bay scam now we sit back and look at it.
Here are the clues:
1) Pricey item going cheap.
2) One day auction.
3) "Do not use ask seller a question e-mail" (or it will alert the real owner of the e-bay account that all is not well).
4) Paypal to another e-mail address.
The e-mail about moving to Hungary just confirms it all.
Moral- look after your e-bay account details or some lowlife will use your account to commit fraud.
We live and learn!

I posted a link to this thread on another forum I use and some body sent this link
Some body has since emailed this link
http://www.zug.com/pranks/powerbook/
.
It's actually in reverse as the scammer is one supposdley making the payment, but it's a good read.
