Title: Gearbox oil cooler.
Post by: Jason2985 on April 03, 2007, 18:28:15
:?:
Can i remove my gearbox oil cooler.
Its the loafer type thing that sits in front of the radiator.
I have a 1996 V8i ES, i have heard of the auto`s having the cooler and the Haynes manual mentions the cooler for the auto but does not mention a cooler for the manual gearbox.
Mine has the manual gearbox.
So why have i got a cooler when the Haynes does not and some other V8 Disco`s dont have them.

It should have an oil cooler, my RRC does.  The 'boxs both have internal pumps but IIRC it's the gearbox that has the cooler.
The auto also has an in-rad oil cooler too.

So it has to stay then.
Not a problem, will have to get some extention pipes made up to move the cooler to fit the winch in.

Ah, yes of course.  You could fit it inside a steering guard which might mean the existing pipework would do.

Good idea.
Will give that a try.
