While removing the springs/shackles from Thora (ready for a good clean) something didn't sound right. A quick smack with Land Rover Special Tool Number 2 (a chisel) revealed the attached. All the metal around the hole is solid.
Now, suggestions? With it being so close to the rear of front spring mount, am I still ok patching this hole, or do I need to do something a little more substantial?
I know the proper answer to this question, but I can't afford one of them. And where's the fun in restoring an old Landie when you've cheated and used a new chassis?

Can you take another piccie from further away??

This do?

Landies were made for patching mate :!:

The important thing here is to be honest with yourself. Is it really all that solid? Can you get away with filling the hole with weld? Does it need a small patch? Does it need a big patch/replacement chassis(or part thereof) It looks fairly unimportant to me, but I'm not planning on driving your truck now am I?? The surrounding are does *look* fairly ok. But thats on a photo. Your call I'm afraid. Also IMHO (and I've welded more than my share of rust buckets back together) It's always but always worse than it first appears when it comes to rust. Good luck, and may the force (or a decent welder) be with you.

It took a good hard smack with a chisel to make that hole! Everything around it is solid, I smacked it all hard. I don't want to have all the front off to weld/repair/clean, then put it all back together again, only for it to fail its MoT on a 5mm hole.
What I'll probably do is make the hole artificially larger (drill) and plate it.
Thanks for the input.

hope you also going to have a look at that split in the chassis at the same time

What split?

What split?
oops sorry mate posted in rush last nite changed me mind now now ive taken my time and had a good look at it looks like a bead of underseal sorry

Phew! Had me panicking for a minute there. Even when you know damn well there isn't a split, if someone tells you there is, you spend all night looking for it.
