on the inlet pipe between the intercooler n the inlet manifold i think, need to go n look at a cossie again

Dump valves don't work on a Diesel.....

A dump valve works by opening when you lift off the accelerator pedal...
This is because when you lift off the accelerator pedal, you shut the throttle blade in the carbs/throttle body.
With the throttle blade shut, a vacuum is created in the inlet manifold... it is this vacuum that makes the dump valve open...

The problem is that a diesel does not have a throttle blade, and hence will never create a vacuum...
Which is why most diesels have a seperate vacuum pump for the brake servo.

This is the brief answer......Send me a pm if you want a better answer

However, if you 'REALLY' want to fit a dump valve you need a soleniod controlled by a mirco switch on the accelerator pedal (or injector pump) and a tapping into the line to the brake servo.
When the soleniod is activated (when you lift off - closed throttle) the vacuum from the brake servo tapping would activate the dump valve.. and give you the wusssh noise your after....

One such kit - http://www.allardturbosport.co.uk/pages/dump_valve_kit.shtml

--- Quote from: "Jimbo" ---'scuse ignorance..............but what is a dump valve - I know it's the thing that Chavs have on RS Turbos etc, that makes the "waaa tish" sound, so I guess it goes on the turbo. Do all turbos have one, or is it a Chav option thing ?

So V8 reline...... will this make you a chav??  Your be fitting side skirts and low profiles next
