another 200tdi question

Xtremeteam:
hi again, just wondering if you can fit a dump valve to a 200tdi engine?

only reason im askin is ive got 1 from where i used to work & might aswell put it to good use, also cant beat a bit waaaa tish

Jimbo:
'scuse ignorance..............but what is a dump valve - I know it's the thing that Chavs have on RS Turbos etc, that makes the "waaa tish" sound, so I guess it goes on the turbo. Do all turbos have one, or is it a Chav option thing ?

Jim

PS - on the service sheet for the 110 and the Disco it talks about cleaning the dump valve - I thought it was referring to the drain 'bulb' on the airbox !!!!!!

Bush Tucker Man:
Isn't it the valve mechanism that 'dumps' the contents of the turbo (or manifold?) to stop the impellor stalling/slowing down when you lift off to change gear?

thats what it does & also stops the impellor plades exiting through the housing when running high boost cos the pressure difference between the sides o the turbo can make the blades go ping & shatter

on the service sheet that is exactly what it is refering to

Jimbo:
So not all turbos have dump valves then ?

Where in the plumbing would one be fitted ?
