Andy.:
Serious question here about plates (reg).

If I do get one and put it on my motor, what do I do if I ever come to sell it (god forbid) .

OK it could stay on, but what if I wanted to keep the private plate?

Is it the same process again for getting a non private plate put back on?

Just thought it might be worth knowing this before I go ahead, if I'm allowed

ChrisW:
I think you just need to pay the £80 transfer fee, not sure if you're existing registration goes into limbo and you get it back or if you're just assigned an age related plate.

Paul:
Andy,

Chris is right, £80 to transfer it to another vehicle,
Or £105 to put it on retention (for transfer at a later date)
Should you not have a vehicle to transfer it to.

Your old number plate will be held at Swansea and put back
on the vehicle when the plate is transfered..

Moose:
When I changed my last Disco, they put a different number on it, still a N reg, but a diffent number/area. In fact, I presume the new owner knows but it has five different registrations by thre time  I sold it.

It was registered with a normal N reg, in 96, it then had a private plate put on , when I purchase it , it was 12 month old and the exowner had keep the private plate, therefore it had gained another age related reg. I then put my private plate on, which I kept when I sold it.  Colliers then put a 3rd N reg plate on.

Andy.:
Cheers guys bit clearer on things now  :D

Mine too has in it's history had three different plates on. K reg plate from new 03/93, then private from 09/94 to 04/97 then to what it is now , but this is different from the original K reg plate  :?:
