Which tyre size? Road use mainly, off road later....
Liam L:
Hi guys, I need some new tyres (and possibly wheels too..) for my newly acquired disco V8. It is standard I think, although it may have had a small lift, and has 235/70x16's on at the moment, on RRC alloys, which I don't like and want to change.
I have been offered some nearly new 235/85x16s on 7x16 steel rims, which I know will fit but will they rub the arches during normal road use? The other option I have considered apart from sticking with the standard size is to go to 30x9.5x15 on new rims, or is that crazy talk?
I don't intend going off road just yet, but don't mind a bit of bodywork fettling at a later date when I do 'go muddy', but am reluctant to splash out on a suspension lift as it has cost me a bomb already (new mallory ignition amp and mallory distributor)
thanks :D
Range Rover Blues:
Personally I'd stick to the 235/70s for now, if you go taller it will handle like a barge, your speedo will be out and 5th will be less use to you. If you want a second set of wheels go for some extreme mud terrains in 235/85 for off roading only.
It's been said before but a standard Disco is still b*****y good off road.
beast5680:
I run 235/70,s on me posh one with colway AT,s on and the same size with amazon tecnics on my V8 for offroading but if i only had one disco iwould still have the two sets of wheels and swap them for the muddy stuff when needed
Budgie:
This site is good for tyre fitment info on Disco's. :D

Thanks, that is kind of what I thought, it was just that the 235/85's were offered to me at a good price so I thought I'd ask the question.
The thinking behind considering the 15's is because there is such a good range of tyres, and they seem to be quite a bit cheaper than the 16" ones for roughly the same size, like £100 difference for a set of four wheels and tyres :?
Best deal I have found so far is 4 235/70x16 Pirelli Scorpion AT with 16" grey spoke steel wheels, fitted, balanced and delivered for £399.50 inc VAT, sound any good :?:
