D2 Td5 vibration/knocking?
« on: September 17, 2019, 12:26:41 »
Hi mud clubbers, I've got a vibration or knocking from under my car. 2001 Td5
I've checked wheel bearings which are good, new one fitted to front N/S.
Props are fine, new one on rear.
It's got a D1 conversion on the rear prop. (No doughnut).
There's no vibration coming through the steering column.
I've swapped tyres to have a different one on each corner in every configuration.
Wheels/tyres are well balanced. Pressures are good at 34 front and 38 rear.
The vibration is worse going round a left handed bend and less or none existent going round a right handed bend.
I've had the front axle in the air and there seems to be no play what so ever in any of the steering bushes, track rod ends, pan hard rod areas etc.
The only other thing I've thought it could be is the watts linkage as on YouTube one of the videos say you get a vibration seeming to come from under the drivers seat, that's not exactly where mine seems to be but it is close.
Any ideas?
