new alarm fob coding
« on: May 06, 2005, 16:15:11 »
hi all
i have bought an alarm fob off ebay but cant get it to work.
Its the correct 418 mhz fob and the little LED light on it works.
I have done the procedure to code the new fob and the horn churps and the dash LED stay lit. When i hold the button down on the fob the dash LED should go out,but it doesn't.After 2 mins it resets. The alarm works with the key but cant get the damn fob to work.
Do i need 2 new hand sets or what else could be wrong.

help appreciated as im pulling my hair out.
thanks
andy

Sometimes the battery connection corrode and a quick clean can get it working again. I use a bit of IPA (Isoprophyl Alcohol) on a cotton bud first.

its sorted now.I had the wrong voltage battery in it.
I had a 1.5 v battery in it and it needed a 3 v one.

thanks to those who bothered trying to help.
