Rear Main seal
(1/1)
Onyx:
Hi
I have a defender 200 TDi the clutch is slipping and i believe this is due to oil coming from the rear main oil seal. I am pulling the engine out next week. I have these parts, have i missed anything?
Clutch
Clutch bearing
Crankshaft rear oil seal
Oil Filter / Oil
Thanks
Onyx

I don't know if the defender is the same as the disco but I would add a clutch release fork as they can push the slaverod tthrough on disco's. Also unless you have changed it recently I would also look at replacement of the clutch hydraulic system that way it's all good.

Change the pressure plate too if it's contaminated with oil. It's probably old, worn and has a weak spring anyway!
Some thread lock for the flywheel to crank bolts, sealant for bell housing to adapter plate, new anti-freeze and copious amounts of tea!

^^^ what he said. Or at least check it very carefully to see if there is stress cracks, stretching/wear at the point where the push rod hits the fork. also as a tip... cable tie the plastic rod retainer to the fork arm so it can't be pulled off.
Onyx:
Thanks for all the info i was toying with the idea of changing the fork.
