Big probs... Loss of drive

One of those occasions when it sucks being a land rover owner.  That said it will be better and stronger than ever when you're done.

Saffy:
BUt.... (unless you're going whole hog for peace of mind) see that portion of spline inboard? Are they not unused, they should be virgin? I thought that one of the official fixes was to replace with a later cross drilled input gear which has a longer length which should/will engage that portion of the splined shaft and Christmas could be back on!

Still find it strange to find a non-cross drilled input gear on that vehicle.

Thinking along a new tack, after reading through the overhaul manual thinking it might be easier for the moment to get a 2nd hand box... One question what would have to swop over between a 300tdi Disco box to make it fit a def.. obviously the stick linkages and bellhousing, but what else...

lambert:
Any nearer to sorted.

hrh_dave:
Its a waiting game.. on the wallet being refilled... currently looking at replacement of: g/box, clutch kit, fork, rear crank seal as thats decided it was a good time to go as well, and not of course forgetting the input gear and associated bearings...

Got the gearbox out on sunday, though its not really out, its still trapped under the 90 so its a highlift and drag it out as and when I can get it done...
