I had a similar thing on mine a few years ago and I think others have too, the tiny fins on the radiator corrode and fall off making it more difficult for the radiator to cool the water when at high revs, might be worth checking this out before you start worrying about a head gasket fault.

If the rad has been pressure washed a lot this can break the tiny fins off too, also it could have dried mud in there if you have been laning or off-roading somewhere.

It could also be a thermostat problem if its not opening properly.

Hope this helps.

My radiator also has very little in the way of fins and gets warm pulling big trailer up some of the big hills near Skipton.  It was a lot worse before I worked out that the fan was duff. How hot is yours getting just a bit or really scary?

If not the fins as mentioned...
When it rises again, pull over and (carefully) feel the radiator to see if it's warm all over. If cold or cold in parts then its probably blocked internally or not being used at all (thermostat not opening) Take rad off and try flushing it out with hose pipe. Replace thermostat as a matter of routine.
Bubbles not good sign - might be too late. A dye test of the coolant at garage will tell you if the HG is the cause of the bubble quite quickly.
Take no chances with 300 tdi overheating issues.
