key fob and programing on 300 tdi please help
rhino-force:
Major problem
My key fob etc has just gone through the wash and needless to say it dont work now. I'm assuming i need a new fob and programing. I can open it with the key but it's immobilised and the alarm just sounds.
Yes its the only one i have (wouldnt mind but it was just replaced when i bought the car 6 mths ago).
Can i get this done via a mobile company etc or can anyone advise.
Thanks
Budgie:
If you can get a new fob then you can reprogram the Disco yourself.
This is the procedure and it'll need two of you to carry it out:
* Start with the ignition off, doors unlocked and bonnet alarm switch depressed.
NOTE: Steps 2- 8 must be carried out in 8 seconds
* Switch ignition on
* Switch ignition off
* Lock doors - push the button down on the drivers door.
* Unlock doors - pull button up on drivers door.
* Release bonnet switch.
* Switch ignition ON
* Switch ignition OFF
* If the alarm is correctly accessed, the horn will sound and the LED on the dash will light.
It's now possible to program two handsets of correct frequency to vehicle's alarm ECU.
This must be carried out within two minutes otherwise you'll have to start again.
* Press and hold down the button on first handset until dash LED flashes.
* Repeat #10 for the second fob.
* The LED on the dash will extinguish if both handsets have been initialised correctly.
I'm not sure how you'll go about deactivating the immobiliser though, maybe the procedure will reset it.

dont mean to dishearten you.... but!! lol
if you manage to get this programmed the first time you should go into business doing it!! its a right pain in the proverbial!!
good luck with it.... i got majorly frustrated when i tried to do it. unfortunately landrover charge about 120 quid to do it.
landandy:
Can this be done on a TD5 as i have a new key which needs tom be programed .
Budgie:
The procedure above is only for the 300 series Disco, I would think that the TD5 would need plugging in to tell the ECU to accept a new key. But I don't know.
