Forward motion achieved!
« on: May 06, 2013, 16:29:16 »
Hi Remaining Mudclub people- having been a member here for a few years I thought I'd post up a pic of my 1966 S2a, which I drove out of its garage this afternoon- the first time it's turned a wheel by it's own power in about 15 years!

I was tempted to video the moment but didn't want the kids to get £50 off you've been framed if anything went wrong...

Oh and the brakes don't work (anyone know where to get a 5-way pipe joint?) but its mine :))))))

cheers

Alan

Thanks guys- yes Golden Yellow was a controversial choice but it makes me smile every time I look at it, and I've only seen one other yellow one on the road; my daughter suggested I do Zebra style stripes like the old Safari trucks but in black and yellow.. we'll see how good a job I make of the base coat :)

cheers

Hi All,
Slow progress as the tub has been a horror story:
2" shorter on one side than the other,
Rampant rot (I'm sure someone told me 'landrovers don't rust you know')
Various smacks, bodges, and 50 years of pig farming.

All ate up my summer in an orgy of cutting bending bashing drilling bolting and rivetting. Not to mention swearing and cuts and bruises.

HOWEVER, trial fit of said tub and the seat box atached; sadly have to take it all off again for
1) Putting in the new top hat sections under the wheelarches my dear ol dad got his mate to fold up for me
2) Probably futile attempts to smooth out the dings dents and otherwise undulations of my rear wings, followed rapidly by
3) lots more lovely bright yellow paint! I'm sure the neighbours check their calendars when they hear my compressor fire up.

Will keep you posted!
