Head Gasket (Best one) ?
« on: October 16, 2012, 16:37:07 »
Looks like I have a light oil leak from the head Gasket so I have been
looking into whats involved in changing it. One question I cant decide on is which is the best replacement? Any reccomendations please.

Are you sure its your head? Is be very worried if it were, is there any contamination of oil or water, is it running hot?

Lambert,

I noticed a build up of oil over a long period of time. As you look at the engine its on the right side underneath the exhaust manifold. Last week I degreased and washed off the engine and now after a few days the damp patch has started to re appear and its origin is at the block and head joint. Theres no loss of water. No bubbles in water. The temp guage never gets past less than a quarter off the cold mark and thats on a short run up the motorway (8 miles). The oil is not contaminated with water either. Engine (300Tdi) starts and runs lovely.

Have an ask at the parts places and see if the allmakes gasket set still use Victor Reinz gaskets. That is an OEM quality set up.
