snorkel - Airbox

Pablo011:
Really silly question and as I have been around cars and bikes, for at least 40 years I should know this but could you not fit the snorkel end direct to the pipe that goes to the turbo intake and do away with the airbox ..............????

thanks

Paul

Boddle:
You could, but you would have no filter, which is a usful way of stopping harmfull objects getting into the engine.
Water iself may not be an issue if you have the right top which are design to remove most of the water (not all), but it would not stop dust particular ETC that can and will cause damage.

mattyme:
i use a viper closed air induction kit, a lot smaller than the air box but still filtered and the carbon fibre looks pretty cool too!! lol

Jake:
If your using a Viper induction kit it'll be fine.
Just make sure its completly water tight
I have a through cab snorkel on my Defender with a Greens filter on top of and it works a treat!

Pablo011:
Right ok guys I was with you I think but whats a viper kit and induction what on top of what a through cab what to what ??????

I mean all I want to do is save hacking the airbox to death and just attach a rubber hose to the already hole in the air box, and attach that to the snorkel end that comes through the wing, the pipe diameter is 90 mm or 3 1/2 inches and approx 2 foot long but the people and places that have told me that its a special pipe and will cost loads to make up or oh no that cant be done or even try this and try that, then I see an advert for a mantec snorkel that goes through the wing and hey preto theres the flexi pipe that I need, but can I get one ...........................any way I have managed to get some flexi hose from a cleaning company and that fits both ends so just to need to find time to get the snorkel  fitted to the disco but all the mither I have had just to get a bit of pipe but thanks for all the help

thanks guys

Paul
