Exhausted

Colin 009:
Hi All,

Here we go exhaust has started to blow, somewhere between engine/manifold/cats.

Can't see where exactly, can just hear it. is there anything I can do to track it down.

Went in to kwik-buck to get it up on a ramp to see if I could see anything, nah just a fitter sucking air between his teeth saying "oh that'll need replacing."

Right now, pros and cons of replacing system with one without cats. Can it be done on a 1996 V8i, read somewhere it can't be done on ealier or later ones.

Confused of wembley.

Normal places really... tighten the manifold - engine bolts, and check / tighten the manifold to downpipe bolts...

I doubt it will need replacing, unless it really has rusted through or cracked.

ChrisW:
Common place they go is the flexible coupler just after the bend - have a looksee if it's sooted up around it - looks like a big wire basket section about 9" long

muddyweb:
Thought it was a V8, sorry

ChrisW:
Ahem errr yes I was just helping out any Tdi owners on where they can leak of course

(well it is late)
