Drop arm replacement.....

Evening all...

I'm having to replace the drop arm on the 90 after replacing the ball joint last year its developed an interesting steering clunk and after further inspection the arm has worn badly in the ball so time to replace it. Now the last one I did was on the 110 and I managed to burn out the seals in the steering box getting that one off. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks for removal with the steering box in situ?

And when that doesnt work get one of those little air grinders and a cold chisel.  After 3 days of swearing, pulling, swearing and pulling I cut mine off very carefully.

the mans idea of cuttin it off,then openin up with a chisel is a good idea,or if you take the box off,2 hammers hittin either side at the same time has worked for me a few times

Use a slitting disc in a grinder ( might need a few discs) - cut just about all the way through the arm without touching the splines - then split with a large chisel enough for the arm to be knocked off.
