quad choice help.

lambert:
Hi,

Right at the moment all things being equal the farm is on for a good year so we are looking at ideas for another vehicle to complement the fleet. Dad has a jimny which is good and light for going round sheeps however it is not so light as to be on the fields all year without making an horrific mess it will also tow fairly well the medium trailer.

I have my 90 it is only really on the land over summer say April to end of September because it is too heavy. It does however allow movement of small nos or sheep without a trailer and will tow the big trailers. It chews on diesel like there is no tomorrow relative to the jimny so only gets minimum use.

So I was thinking q farm quad would be ideal. Lighter than the jimny and more frugal for me to use every day.

So what makes or models are up to par and worth looking at?

lambert:
Oh and 4x4 is a must plus enough space for a box and occasionally a passenger and road legal.

Saffy:
i've been looking at quads and so far gather it's got to be branded (not one of the cheap Chinese things that are everywhere and last 10 minutes without any spares) so Honda, yammy or zook and over 400cc ...lots of

lambert:
By that token are can am worth a look? Seen an outlander 400 on a 08 reg auto for about 2.5k

LandRoger:
Most of the farms i visit whilst shooting seem to have the Honda big red  4x4 loads of racking around it tow hitch my mate has a trailor that holds all the leccy fencing kit  and the kitchen sink and has sold a tractor because the quad is so versatile ,and cheap to run, service, its a 450cc.
