Alternator???

john bean:
Hi All,
I have been offered a new alternator its a 100 amp for a 300 Tdi now the problem I want to fit it to my 200 Tdi all the mounting points are the same but it has a polybelt pulley and my 200 Tdi has single V belt is it just a matter of changing the pulleys over and a bit of rewiring

Range Rover Blues:
No, you'd better install a quick-release mechanism for the vee belt so that you can change it easily on a daily basis.

The older style of vee belt is limited to the amount of power it can transmit and a 100 amp alternator is beyond that.  We have an 80amp and I've had no end of trouble with it, I use the thickest belt that is availbleand have taken great care to ensure that both belts line up perfectly, if they don't I can shred a vee belt in about 30 miles.

Arightpest:
Is it possible to change the 200 pulley’s over to the 300 Tdi pulleys because I am getting fed up of tightening them up?

Arightpest:
Ooooopps I must have forgotten to use my under arm spray or do I just smell or doesn’t this tinternet thingy work :?

Andy.:
Yep it works OK, and no funny smell this end

Sorry can't help with your question though  :(
