Wouldn't it be funny if someone stole huge earth mover from local quarry and rolled over those stones one night in front of the two man security team and got clean away on a motorbike.

I told some american tourists once that the stones were in fact fibreglass and that was why they were fenced off. she replied that they were thousands of years old, i said they were 30 years old and it was the idea of the farmer up the road, hes loaded now!!!! :angel:they were not chuffed! :evil:

It's not 30 years!!!

1901 the stones were straightened up and set in concrete.

During the 1920's there was renovations which included moving 6 of the stones and re-erecting others,

1958 cranes were brought in to reposition some fallen cross stones,

and in 1964 4 more stones were re-positioned.

English heratige appears to have missed the above out of the guide book for some reason?

hey, was that you I passed on the ranges this evening with two other trucks? was a green Jimmy, guys where out clean crud from the radiators, I stopped and asked if all was okay. I was taking the 'long' way home from work  :evil:
