I assimilated your words into my collective.

You best nail them words down before they go walkies :lipsrsealed:
Saffy:
they'd nick the nails too.
I used to be so liberal as a teen and would defend all travelers, irish, new age or otherwise. The turning point was when company next door to the one I worked at built a brand new building then went bust. The vacant parking got occupied by irish travellers. Over the next few weeks that building was rendered a ruin as it was stripped of all value. Fixtures and fittings ripped out and wiring removed from walls. We had cctv of them sending there kids in to do this.
As a military contractor we had large security team and cctv everywhere, that didn't stop them waiting until one thick foggy evening and cutting the fence to help themselves to the gas bottle stores. The security guys at night where taunted and threatened. The kids started pelting our cars as we left the gates, I stopped one evening and gave chase only to see them go around and go for my car... I got back in and the older pikies road blocked me with there brand new mercs. I charged at them in my mini metro and they soon moved out the way I tell you. But none of that really bothered me... the nail in the coffin was finding the marble stone surround of the local war memorial plaque they had evidently stolen shortly before they moved on... that sickened me and condemned them as scum in my eyes.
Lucky enough never had any close encounters with pikies for a long time UNTIL coming to Trowbridge and they are highly active around here... probably due to the close proximity of scrap metal merchants. Many a time they come into our private carpark and mooch around and get abusive and intimidating when confronted - I video them and they don't like it. It was a daily event at one point with a different truck and couple of guys coming in to scout the carpark out, one guy would get out and looking into peoples gardens and parking places as the other turned scrap laden truck around. My neighbours had two engines and few other bits and bobs stolen from his drive by these guys. It takes a lot not to lose sleep over these things... the feeling is when, (not if) will I be next target.
The thing if you catch them during the act of stealing and confront them... you're a marked man... there is no way you can have piece of mind as they are animals in packs and it would be impossible to handle the vendetta mentality. You would either have to let it slide or do a very good job of making sure they didn't get to ever report back to the hive.

And probably a similar story which can be repeated by many people on here. I grew up in Peterborough where there's a large pikey community.

Count the amount of vehicles per dwelling.
Back in the day - Around the mid 90's the head honcho threatened to bomb the main police headquarters in peterborough if they came down to the site. This caused chaos in town, and for weeks the news papers had pikey headlines. Looking at the satellite photo's doesn't look like the place has been cleaned up. This is the 'cant touch us' attitude which is all to common, and down right scary.
Don't put new age travelers in the sentence as pikeys! Having lived on my fair share of buses, 99% of new age guys are teenagers / student ages with middle class upbringings who want to step away from the system for a period of time. The only real problem with these guys is when the heavy (heroin) drug users descend on a long standing site and turn it for the worse. New age guys will normally actively try and support a local community which they are resident near, using local shops, filling stations (a lot of 12mpg vehicles) and as often as not, it is not the direct local residents who have issues with them.
Anyways, must turn up the stereo, put some dirty techno on and reminisce about the 'good old days' ;)
Jas278:
Is that maps and Co-ordinates for the bomb squad !! :police:
