Offside mirror going down to low in reverse
« on: July 15, 2011, 16:42:00 »
This is really getting on my nerves now as i cant find a solution.

2006 Grand Chokie  V6 Oil Burner

When you stick the auto in reverse both mirrors tilt downwards, lordy knows why,  the nearside mirror tilts down so low i cant see whats hehind so have to tilt it back up again.

Does anyone else have this problem on their Chokie ?

Sounds similar to the problem that when the imobiliser is deactivated the mirrors set them selves to a random position - effects ZJ's and ZG's.   No cure.

standard practice on nearly all modern cars. use the rear view mirror to see whats behind and the side mirrors are angled so that you can see the position of the vehicle next to the curb.

nothing you can do to stop it save on disconnecting the power to the mirors

What a pain in the bum :(  i was really hoping there was a special fix for this anoying problem,  i do think they also have random mode, the nearside mirror is allways in the wrong position.
THere are 2 memory settings, ive tried many things, nothing sorts it out :( maybe ill just disconnect the nearside mirror as thats the one that allways dips the most ?

Thanks for all your replies guys :)

Ford Scorpio did that about 20 yeard ago, though being a Ford it worked quite well.  Can't remember exaclty how it works but there was a way to alter how far it moved.
