Series 3 Fuse box wiring

(1/1)

BigA:
just brought a series 3, there was a theft attempt from the previous owner, and while trying to start the indicator stork mechanism was broken and wiring unplugged from the fuse box under the steering wheel column.

The previous owner supplied new stork, but, i need to know what wire goes where in the fuse-box. I have connected the loom, light switch, and i think the flasher unit correctly, just not sure on the rest?

So can any of you helpful chaps (or chapeses) give me clue as to which wire goes where please? should be interesting due to there being 4 green and 2 white in addition to the purple and brown?

Cheers for now

Andy

 Re: SIII Fusebox Query

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, this isn't going to be much help to you, but I'm reading it from the Haynes manual for the S3

Fuse no. 1-2 Protects the lighting circuit.
Fuse no. 3-4 Is a spare circuit.
Fuse no. 5-6 Protects the directional indicator and window wiper circuits.
Fuse no. 7-8 Protects the fuel guage, water guage and the stop lights.

I think the fuses are numbered from the bottom up i.e. the fuse closest to the pedals (lowest position) is fuse 1-2 and so on on up the box.

Now I don't seem to be able to see what rating of fuse should be in each circuit but what it does say is, if a fuse blows replace it with a 35amp fuse, if this blows again then investigate the circuit with the help of the wiring diagram and check the affected circuit for earthing faults.

So by your origional question I'm sorry I cant help you but I hope the information I have provided is of some help........

BigA:
Cheers,

i have a haynes now, and figured it out last night.

Hightower:
How many fuses did you blow before you got it right? I did it in 3 . . . . . .

BigA:
Hightower, oddly the wirering colour in the Haynes was exactly the same as on the series (not the same as yours?) so it all went together OK, with no blown fuses??

That said, still no horn up full beam LOL
