:( It was me I'm afraid. Cam belt snapped at full pelt. Enough momentum to get me on to the traffic island. Damage appears to be limited to several bent pushrods, a bent valve and a cracked rocker shaft. Engine is pretty much scrapped!

Thanks for the offer of a tow. Got the RAC to tow it home.
