making a video

I would like to make a video on my pc of some photos of my Dad filtering through with music in the background for his anniversary of passing away and was wondering if anyone knows of an idiot proof piece of free software I can down load to do such a thing please.

I'd hate to recommend, but for ease of use, and idiot proofness. Pretty sure you can drop still images and have them pause for several seconds.
