I'm looking at replacing my front seats with a set of reclining bucket seats.

The trouble is, the new ones don't have seat belt mounting points. Now I'm a competent DIY welder and can easily make brackets which will attach to the floorpan with rear reinforcing plates.

What are your thoughts?

Rally harnesses have to be fitted in a similar way, so it must fall within the rules.  I'd suggest though that you teied to tie the new anchor point down to the chassis not the cab floor.

on a 200 the anchors are bolted through the tunnel, might be worth looking to see if the captive nut assembly was carried over unused on yours?

That's a sound suggestion - easier on the inner mountings as opposed to the outer mountings though.

Playing Devil's advocate, the current seat belt mounts bolt to the seat/seatbase, with the seatbase being spot welded (not bolted) to the cab floor.

That's work a look. Where did the outer mounts fit?

into the floor about 2" in from the bottom of the b post, mine is 3 door with tilting seats so could eaisily be different but lift the trim and look. also the mounts are i think meant to rip out slowly during a crash to lessen the load on the squishy bit so be carefull with too heavy a fixing to the chassis.
