Blackstar tyres
gords:
Went to have a look at them and I decided they were not really suitable. They appear to be a bit beyond MT and not ideal for a one tyre car!

:D Hi Gords, the tyres above are an aggresive mud-terrain as i had a set of these but from Bronco they were called Diamond Backs the size i had were 215/75/15 and were fitted on my old Suzuki SJ. They were great in the mud nothing stopped it but on the road the tyre noise was very noticeable and tyre ware was quite a worry, lost about 10mm in 6 months with everyday use. The price you mention for second hand is not bad with rims included, but not recommended for everyday use esspecially in the wet
gords:
Thanks Mike - I went off the idea pretty musc as soon as I saw them. Like you say, I should think they'd wear down very quickly and tarmac in the rain...
Wallet well and truly secured and thinking cap back on  From chatting with them, I was swung towards BFG! That most definitely will have to wait a while

:D Ive got Grizzly claws on the Rangie, but i only travel a couple miles to work and sometimes use my pushbike. But if i had to do more mileage i would change them to BFGs they seem to ware well as a mate of ours has them on his Disco ( BFG MTs ). And he swears by them, good on road and offroad, still get tyre noise though but nothing to bad. BFG AT would be a good comprimise. :D
gords:
Yes, many people seem to swear by BFG and I've heard stories of them doing 40K+ miles.
I've already got Colway ATs - I know, not necessarily the same  - but if I change, it will be to MTs.
It's back to cheap/Retread against expensive/new  ... or ebay
